What's New in Knolo: The Browser Extension, Page Actions, and Everything Shipped in August 2026

Your Knolo Space has always lived at app.knolo.io. Starting today, it also lives in your Chrome sidebar, on whatever tab you're working in.

This is the August 2026 update. The headline is the browser extension. There's more, and we'll cover all of it here.

The Problem We Were Solving

If you've been using Knolo for a while, you know the workflow: open the app, pull up your Space, do the work, then switch back to whatever page you were actually trying to deal with.

That tab-switching is friction. Not catastrophic friction, but the kind that adds up. You're reading a contract in one tab, your Knolo assistant is in another, and you're copying text between them like it's 2018.

People on Reddit have been building DIY workarounds for exactly this problem. One thread in r/ChatGPTPro got traction with someone who said they "got tired of tab-switching, so I made a Chrome extension to use AI in my browser sidebar." 340 upvotes. The demand is real.

The extension solves this directly. Your Space comes to you, wherever you're working.

What the Extension Does

The Side Panel

Click the Knolo icon in your Chrome toolbar. The side panel opens on the right side of your browser. Sign in with your account, pick your Space, pick an assistant or start a new thread. That's it.

The page you were already on stays open on the left. Your Knolo assistant is on the right. No new tabs, no window switching.

Page Reading

Once the extension is open, your assistant can read the current page. Not just the URL, the actual content: structured headings, body text, form fields, tables.

Say you're reviewing a competitor's pricing page. Ask your assistant: "What's their enterprise tier include?" It reads the page and answers. No copy-paste. No screenshot. It just knows what's there.

Page reading is read-only. Knolo doesn't touch the page, it just understands it.

Page Actions

This is the part that gets interesting.

Page actions let your assistant interact with the page: fill in a form field, click a button, select a dropdown option, upload a file from your Space. But every single action requires your explicit approval before it happens. Every one.

By the numbers

Every page action requires your explicit approval. Knolo proposes the action, shows you exactly what it will do, and waits. Nothing happens until you click Approve.

This isn't a minor UX detail. The biggest complaint about AI browser extensions (and it comes up constantly in r/ClaudeAI and r/AI_Agents) is that they take actions without asking. One thread described Claude for Chrome as creating "massive security and privacy risks from giving an AI full control of your browser." That's the reputation the category has earned.

Knolo's model is different. The assistant proposes. You decide. Every time.

A concrete example: you're filling out a CRM entry. You type "Fill in the company name with Acme Corp" in the side panel. Knolo shows you the approval prompt: "Fill in the 'Company Name' field with 'Acme Corp'." You click Approve. The field gets filled. If you don't click Approve, nothing happens.

That's the whole model. You stay in control.

Thread Sync

Everything you do in the extension is the same thread you see in app.knolo.io. Not a copy. Not a separate conversation. The same thread.

Open the extension on your laptop, ask a question, close Chrome. Later, open app.knolo.io on your desktop. That conversation is there, with the full history. Your previous context follows you, along with your agents and knowledge bases, because the extension isn't a separate product. It's just another surface for the same Space.

This is what separates Knolo from generic AI sidebars. Gemini in the Chrome side panel is a generic model. ChatGPT's extension is a generic model. They don't know your business or what you talked about last week. Knolo does, because it's your Space.

The extension is available now on the Chrome Web Store. Search for "Knolo" or go directly to knolo.io/extension.

Installation takes about 30 seconds. Sign in with your existing Knolo account and your Space is immediately available in the side panel.

How People Are Already Using It

Marcus runs a 12-person sales team. Every rep was spending 15-20 minutes per deal updating CRM fields after calls. With the extension, they pull up the CRM entry, open Knolo in the side panel, and use page actions to fill fields from their call notes, approving each one before it goes in. Time per entry is down to about 4 minutes.

Priya does competitive analysis for a SaaS company. She used to copy pricing tables and feature lists into a doc, then ask her Knolo assistant to compare them. Now she opens the competitor's site, opens the extension, and asks directly: "How does this compare to our enterprise plan?" The assistant reads the page and answers with her company's context already loaded. No intermediate doc.

A Note on Timing

If you follow the Chrome extension ecosystem, you know August 31, 2026 is the Manifest V2 sunset date. Google is ending support for MV2 extensions and Make's Chrome app is one of the tools being deprecated on exactly that date.

Knolo's extension is MV3-native from day one. No migration, no deprecation notice in your future. We built on the current standard deliberately.

What's Coming Next

We're not going to give you a roadmap with dates we can't commit to. What we can say is that the extension is the foundation for a lot of what comes next. The side panel is a surface, and we're building more into it.
