Temporary install
Install Knolo without the Chrome Web Store
The Chrome Web Store listing is under review. Until it goes live, download the ZIP and load it as an unpacked extension. This is the supported path for early access — Chrome does not allow installing a .crx file downloaded from a website for normal users.

Why not a .crx?
Chrome blocks installing extension packages (.crx) fetched from the open web unless you use enterprise policy. Load unpacked from a ZIP is the same binary we ship to the Store — just installed from disk while review finishes.
Steps
Download the ZIP
Get the packaged extension from this page. Keep the archive — you’ll point Chrome at the extracted folder.
Unzip it
Extract the ZIP somewhere durable (e.g. ~/Applications/knolo-extension). Don’t delete that folder while you use the extension — Chrome loads it from disk.
Open chrome://extensions
Paste chrome://extensions into the address bar, or use the menu → Extensions → Manage extensions.
Enable Developer mode
Toggle Developer mode on in the top-right of the extensions page.
Load unpacked
Click “Load unpacked” and select the extracted folder (the one that contains manifest.json).
Open the side panel and sign in
Click the Knolo icon in the toolbar (or press Alt+Shift+K), sign in with your Knolo account, and connect a tab when you want page tools.
Updating
Download a newer ZIP, replace the extracted files, then click Reload on the extension card at chrome://extensions.
After Store approval
Remove the unpacked build and install from the Chrome Web Store instead. We’ll switch the main /extension CTA when the listing is live.
